海角社区 Celebrates New Inductees into Honors 海角社区
海角社区 celebrated 29 members of the Class of 2027 who joined the University鈥檚 Honors 海角社区 during an induction ceremony on Friday, September 8, 2023.
Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Shelley Robbins, along with Honors Council co-presidents Sean Pramnieks 鈥24 and Emily Schwartz 鈥24, provided opening remarks. Sister Mary Joan Jacobs, CSFN, delivered the invocation, and Dr. Mary Carroll Johansen, Director of the Honors 海角社区, distributed pins to the incoming freshman members as part of the induction ceremony.
As members of the Honors program, inductees are invited to enroll in innovative, seminar-style Honors courses and are encouraged to pursue independent research and scholarship. As participants in the
program, they are immersed in service-learning activities as well as campus academic and social events.
鈥淎s a freshman, I knew I wanted to challenge myself to the best of my ability, said Hannah Maurer 鈥27. 鈥淚 wanted to make the most out of my time at 海角社区 Family, to better prepare myself to take on the world. Joining the Honors 海角社区 was the right choice for me. Smaller class sizes allow for thorough class discussions and individualized attention. The curriculum allows students to challenge themselves and learn at a faster pace. I feel I will be fully prepared to graduate successfully with the aid of the Honors 海角社区.鈥
